beyond the clinic
Healing Vessels International
The charitable ecosystem behind AthleticsMD®
AthleticsMD® was never meant to end at the clinic door. Revenue and clinical expertise from our Columbia and Laurel locations flow into
Healing Vessels International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects three sister organizations:
Global Surgery University,
Chinedozi Hospitals and Healthcare International, and
Omnipresent Church. Here is how the pieces fit.
Healing Vessels International
VISION
Healing that reaches the communities medicine has passed over.
FUNCTION
The charitable hub. Healing Vessels International receives and stewards philanthropic gifts, serves as fiscal sponsor for physician-led community health initiatives in Maryland and abroad, and houses Global Surgery University. Grants, donations, and mission partnerships move through HVI. EIN 45-2454543.
Global Surgery University
VISION
Safe surgery on every continent, taught by the people who live there.
FUNCTION
The teaching arm. GSU trains nurses, anesthetists, and surgical teams in low-resource settings. Working alongside the Johns Hopkins Global Alliance of Perioperative Professionals, its faculty have trained roughly 200 providers at partner hospitals in Liberia and The Gambia since 2022.
Chinedozi Hospitals and Healthcare International
VISION
World-class hospitals built, owned, and staffed on African soil.
FUNCTION
The infrastructure arm. CHHI develops hospital projects across Africa, beginning in Nigeria, and translates the clinical standards proven at AthleticsMD® into facilities designed to outlast their founders.
Omnipresent Church
VISION
Every Home a Sanctuary · Every Gift a Calling.
FUNCTION
The spiritual arm. Omnipresent Church offers worship, chaplaincy, and pastoral care that treats faith as part of healing rather than an afterthought. It holds the ecosystem to its founding conviction: health is more than the absence of disease.
How AthleticsMD® powers the work
AthleticsMD® is the engine room. As Maryland's first independent Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility, our clinics produce three things the mission cannot run without: revenue, evidence, and people. Margin from patient care underwrites Healing Vessels International's charitable programs. Protocols refined in our PREOOP™ surgical prehabilitation and medical weight loss programs become Global Surgery University curriculum. And the CORF operating model itself becomes the blueprint CHHI adapts for hospitals abroad.
A patient who books a same-day sick visit in Laurel is, without knowing it, helping train a scrub nurse in Monrovia and plan a hospital ward in Nigeria. Care here funds care everywhere. That is the design.
